The Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London commissioned us to make a film to illustrate and promote the three pathways that make up the MSc in Forensic Mental Health. Rather than go for a scripted piece we decided the film would be much more engaging if we could get the students and lecturers to tell the story in their own words. We were given access to the MRI machines, a secure unit, and lectures to illustrate the breath of the course. The challenge was to make a succinct, stylish film that would appeal to a well-informed audience.
Jentle Childbirth Trust
Our third film for the Jentle Childbirth Trust, ‘A Holistic Approach to Pregnancy and Birth’, is aimed squarely at mothers to be. Jenny Smith came to us with the idea of a toolkit of ideas and techniques for women to use during pregnancy, labour, birth and the early months of life. With the help of two fantastic couples we were able to bring Jenny’s idea to life. We also produced an animation for this film, something we felt helped illustrate what happens anatomically in a way that words alone could not.
Jentle Childbirth Trust VBAC
Shot over six months on a micro budget, we follow two mothers through the experience of ‘VBAC’ and talk to medical professionals about risks and benefits to mother and child. The challenges ofmaking films about childbirth are many, babies don't come on schedule, and filming people at their most vulnerable requires tact, diplomacy and understanding. We’re really pleased to be working with the Jentle Childbirth Trust.
